Really only headings (paragraphs starting #, ##, ###) and lists (dash space or number period space) should be supported. You could add inline formatting and links if you wanted to. But really those two things will do 90% of the lift.

Agreed. However, our editor doesn't support Markdown, and it makes us sad, too.
Having said that, we are not 100% happy with our editor and are planning to do major updates to the editor, perhaps changing the engine to allow us to use slash commands and markdown.

This could be quite a big challenge since our editor doesn't support Markdown by default.
